We are committed to maintaining an ongoing, open, transparent dialogue with all those who influence or are influenced by our activities, from customers and partners to suppliers and the associations and communities located in our areas of operation.

Our approach aims to create value for all stakeholders, using a structured skills-and-innovation-based model that seeks transparent, constructive engagement with the areas in which we operate and its communities. To this end, we believe that agreement and cooperation are essential to achieving our medium- and long-term objectives.

Our supply chain is an asset and a key driver of sustainable development. With this in mind, we have implemented a sustainable management strategy for the Eni value chain that provides for sharing of values, commitments and targets with our suppliers, supporting and involving them in the growth process. The strategy has three linchpins: a systemic, inclusive approach, incorporation of ESG principles into every stage of the procurement process and the development and enhancement of best practices.

We offer our customers cutting-edge products and technological solutions, helping them to play a leading role in the future of the chemical industry and its supply chains. Furthermore, we engage with customers, as well as public authorities and consumer associations, thus ensuring increasingly low-carbon products and solutions.

EcoVadis platform

Working alongside Eni, we are committed to reinforcing sustainable supply-chain management, offering innovative tools to help suppliers implement and replicate our sustainability model. A tangible example of this commitment is Open-es, a scheme designed to help suppliers with measuring and improving their ESG (environmental, social and governance) performance.

Our subsidiaries also play an active role in Open-es, helping to promote an increasingly responsible and sustainable supply chain.

Our Supply Chain, a shared commitment to the energy transition

We believe that strong, long-lasting relationships with our business partners are only possible when established effectively and with the agreement of both sides, especially as regards sustainability. We have therefore joined the EcoVadis platform, an internationally recognised Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) rating system based on a clear, effective and readily understandable assessment standard. The overall rating is calculated by assessing corporate performance in four areas: environment, ethics, working practices/human rights and sustainable procurement.

We have a commitment to encourage ongoing dialogue with local communities hosting our production sites. Cooperation, participation, mutual acquaintance and knowledge and experience sharing help to create shared value with all local stakeholders, encouraging continuous improvement of our projects and achievement of our sustainability objectives.

Linea Rosa Domestic Violence Centres (CAV)

Urban beekeeping: biodiversity awareness-raising

With its Linea Rosa Domestic Violence Centres (CAV), Versalis, along with other Eni companies co-located at the Ravenna site, aims to prevent and combat violence against women.

The project grants the children of CAV users access to after-school educational and recreational activities: indeed, offering tangible family-care support enables women to escape violence with greater peace of mind by investing in their financial empowerment.

At the same time, in partnership with CAV, awareness-raising events are held for men and women employed at the Eni site in Ravenna designed to increase understanding of the problem and improve knowledge of the local facilities available in case of need.

In 2024, Versalis initiated a joint venture in Porto Torres (Sardinia) with two important players: Apicoltura Urbana, a specialist in beehive management and monitoring, and Tenute Delogu, a wine producer that offered its expertise and the land for hive installation.

The project had a twofold objective: on the one hand, to conduct a scientific trial using a nonanoic-acid-based plant protection product, obtained from renewable feedstock and biodegradable in soil and water, and on the other hand, to raise primary school pupils’ awareness of the importance of bees and their role in biodiversity conservation. This educational project involved more than 370 local primary school children with presentations and hands-on workshops.
