Born in Milan in 1963, he graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Milan Politecnico and is Head of the Oilfield Chemicals Business Unit at Versalis.
Experience
During his 26-year career in the chemical industry at Eni, he gained experience as Technical Director for several investments until he took on the position of Intermediate Sales Manager.
He was Intellectual Property and Licensing Manager, and his responsibilities included the development and marketing of proprietary technologies. Before becoming Manager of R&D and Technological Innovation in 2011, he worked as Manager of Strategy and Business Development.
In his role as Head of the Biochem Business Unit, he managed the research and technology of renewable chemicals, the advanced bioethanol production activities of the Crescentino site and the operations of the Matrìca JV in Porto Torres.
Today, he is Head of the Oilfield Chemicals Business Unit at Versalis. From 2023 Sergio Lombardini also serves in the capacity of Chairman and Managing Director of Versalis International.
